Each type of meat has its own characteristics. Pork is often too fatty, while beef can be too tough. Lamb is not recommended for those suffering from gallbladder diseases. Turkey is healthy, but it can be even tougher than beef. Only chicken is suitable for almost everyone! It is no wonder that different nations have their own original chicken recipes. Hungarian chicken is a dish that every gourmet should definitely try.
Aromatic, tender, hearty
Hungarian chicken was traditionally considered the food of shepherds and was cooked in cauldrons. This dish is also known as paprikash. Without the characteristic spicy sauce with tomatoes and paprika, Hungarian chicken would lose its uniqueness! Besides chicken, paprikash can also be made with veal and even fish.
Ingredients:
6 chicken thighs
4 tomatoes
1 red pepper
1 onion
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp flour
3 tbsp vegetable oil
5 cloves of garlic
black pepper
salt
Preparation:
1. Fry the chicken thighs on both sides in a minimal amount of oil until golden brown. Then, remove them from the pan and sauté the chopped onion and garlic in the same oil until golden.
2. Add the chopped pepper to the onion and garlic. Simmer until the moisture completely evaporates. Then add the flour and sauté for a minute over low heat.
3. Now add the grated tomatoes to the vegetables, season with salt and pepper, add a little water, and mix thoroughly. Return the thighs to the pan, coat them in the sauce, cover with a lid, and simmer for three-quarters of an hour over low heat.
That's it, a simple yet delicious paprikash is ready. If desired, it can be served with finely chopped herbs. Enjoy your meal!
