How to Properly Store Avocado at Home for Ripening and Preventing Spoilage

After buying an unripe fruit in the store, it can be brought to 'readiness' at home.

Why Do We Value Avocado?

The green, soft, and incredibly healthy avocado has long gained popularity among millions of Russians. However, few can accurately explain what benefits this fruit offers and what health issues it can help prevent.

These aspects were clarified for us by dietitian Marina Sorokina.

- Despite its high calorie content (160 kcal per 100 g), avocado is considered a dietary product. It saturates the body with unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins A, E, folic acid, and other valuable nutrients, - noted the nutrition specialist.

In addition, the exotic fruit is rich in monounsaturated fats, which are beneficial for the heart and blood vessels, as well as iron, potassium, and copper. Its high fiber content makes avocado a favorite food among both gastroenterologists and their patients.

How Does Avocado Affect Health?

People who regularly consume avocado have several advantages compared to those who do not like this fruit:

* they have a reduced risk of developing cardiovascular diseases;

* they generally have lower cholesterol levels;

* they find it easier to maintain a normal weight and avoid extra pounds;

* thanks to vitamin E, their vision remains excellent well into old age.

How to Properly Store Avocado at Home?

If you have purchased a very hard fruit, do not be upset — it, although unripe, can ripen without leaving your home. However, it should be stored on a cool balcony or in the refrigerator, in the vegetable and fruit compartment. This way, the fruit can maintain its quality until the holidays or an important event.

If you want to enjoy avocado sooner, place it on the windowsill. In 3-4 days, it will be ready to eat.
