Food research continues. In particular, scientists from the University of Toronto conducted work that demonstrated the beneficial properties of one nut for weight loss. This is reported by the journal Maya Clinic Proceedings.
What nut is it? It is almond. Its calorie content is actually significantly lower than commonly believed. The study involved patients with high cholesterol levels.
During a comprehensive experiment, it was established that more than 20% of the calories from the fats contained in almonds are not absorbed by the human body. This was determined through laboratory analyses of stool samples from the participants. About one-fifth of the calories are simply excreted from the body, however, while consuming the nut, a person feels a good sense of satiety.
As a result, the volunteers consumed two percent fewer calories during meals. Over time, this effect will reflect on the scales. Some participants maintained their previous weight parameters, while others lost a little weight.
