Dietitian Svetlana Zelentsova claims that fat-free products are not beneficial for several reasons.
Svetlana Zelentsova notes that many fat-free products contain additives that enhance their flavor, which can negatively affect health. Such additives include starch, flavorings, hydrogenated vegetable fats, colorings, and other substances.
“The more a product is industrially processed, the fewer beneficial properties it has, and often it turns out to be more calorie-dense compared to natural counterparts,” the dietitian added.
Zelentsova also emphasized that fats are essential for the body. If the diet consists solely of fat-free products, it will lead to an excess of carbohydrates, which can ultimately cause a range of metabolic disorders.
She noted that due to a lack of fats, the body does not receive important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and fats are necessary for the absorption of calcium.
“Therefore, I do not recommend anyone to include fat-free products in their diet,” the expert concluded.
