The kidneys help remove excess fluid, toxins, and waste products. If there is a malfunction in the system, the entire body suffers. Nutrition greatly affects the condition of the kidneys. Urologist-andrologist Arthur Bogatyrev named the foods that pose a threat to our natural "filter."

If there are already kidney diseases, it is advisable to avoid foods high in oxalates and potassium: these include spinach, nuts, beets, bran, chocolate, avocados, chips, and fried potatoes.

The doctor also recommended reducing the intake of drinks containing alkaloids — coffee, tea, and sweet soda. These can lead to the formation of kidney stones.

Dairy products should be consumed in small amounts. If calcium is in excess, it will be excreted with urine, increasing the risk of kidney stones. Another product that can negatively affect the excretory system is butter. It is saturated with cholesterol and saturated fats.

One should also be cautious with meat and liver. They contain purines, which are involved in the production of uric acid.
