Consuming small portions of lard is beneficial for health, said nutritionist Tatyana Meshcheryakova.

The doctor said that it contains monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamins A and B group, sulfur, zinc, phosphorus, sodium, and other elements. It is also rich in selenium, which strengthens the immune system, protects against cancer, and supports the functioning of the reproductive system, reports Izvestia.

As the medical professional noted, regular consumption of this product will saturate the body with quality fats required for building cellular structures and for the normal functioning of the respiratory and digestive systems.

The expert pointed out that lard combines well with proteins and carbohydrates. However, she also reminded that it is high in calories — 100 grams contains approximately 850 kcal and 94 grams of fat. Therefore, it is recommended to consume no more than 20 grams per day, preferably during lunch, the specialist concluded.
