Excessive coffee consumption can lead to serious health problems, reported dietitian M. Mukhina.

According to the specialist, an adult without chronic diseases can consume no more than 400 mg of caffeine per day without harm to the body. This amount is contained in approximately 3–4 cups of espresso or 2–3 cups of cappuccino or Americano.

The dietitian emphasized that excessive coffee consumption can cause not alertness, but rather fatigue. Another negative consequence is vascular spasms.

People who are sensitive to caffeine should significantly reduce their intake to avoid increased anxiety, rapid heartbeat, and other unpleasant symptoms.
