Meat is often associated with the risk of parasite infection, but, as it turns out, this does not apply to all types.

Therapist and parasitologist Eduard Bartuli explained which products are truly dangerous and which can be considered almost completely safe.

Pork, Beef, Chicken, and Turkey — Which is Better

According to the expert, beef and pork may contain dangerous tapeworms and larvae of worms. It is not a fact that all meat will be infected. Much depends on the conditions in which the animals are raised, their diet, and the methods of meat processing at the production stage.

"Factory production is usually safer than private farms," emphasized Bartuli.

Chicken and turkey, according to the parasitologist, are the cleanest types of meat. Parasites are not found in their tissues at all. Salmonella is possible, but it can be easily destroyed.

How to Destroy Parasites in Meat

The good news is that parasites in meat can be easily destroyed. It is enough to bring the internal temperature of the product to 70 °C and above — then neither helminths nor their larvae will survive. Any method of processing is suitable, including frying, baking, and boiling. Even salted lard is safe if it is kept under the right conditions.
