Nutritionist J. Tikhanycheva told the publication "Strasti" that consuming apples, despite their obvious benefits, can also lead to negative health consequences.
As the expert noted, apple trees are often treated with pesticides, residues of which can enter the body. Therefore, she recommended purchasing organic fruits and washing or peeling them before consumption.
Additionally, apples contain a lot of fructose, which can raise blood glucose levels. This means that diabetics and those predisposed to metabolic disorders need to be cautious.
Consuming apples can trigger an allergic reaction due to certain proteins found in the fruit. An abundance of fiber can also lead to negative consequences when these fruits are consumed excessively.
The specialist stated that the amount of fruit consumed daily is influenced by overall health and individual characteristics of the body; however, on average, 1–2 fruits can be eaten daily.
Diabetics and those with metabolic disorders are better off eating no more than 1 apple in the first half of the day. For children, the nutritionist recommends giving 1 fruit per day, divided into several portions.
Moreover, the expert advised consuming these fruits after breakfast or as a snack before lunch. They are also used in compotes, baking, desserts, baked dishes, and added to cereals.
