During his stay in one of the overseas territories of the country in the Caribbean Sea, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rob Jetten was hospitalized after swimming – he was stung by an unknown sea creature, reports NOS.
The government press service reported that Jetten was hospitalized during his stay in Bonaire: while swimming, he was stung by some sea creature, which caused a severe allergic reaction.
It should be noted that Rob Jetten has been serving as Prime Minister of the Netherlands since February 23 of this year. He became the youngest Prime Minister of the country and the first openly gay person to hold this position.
However, after a few hours, the Prime Minister was allowed to leave the facility, as there was no need for further medical observation.
Jetten shared a photo from the hospital with the team that assisted him. "Thanks to the professional help of the specialists at Fundashon Mariadal, I feel significantly better and can continue my working visit," he noted.
This incident forced a revision of the schedule for the visit to the islands – including the cancellation of one meeting and a working breakfast with the island's executive council.
