A suspect has been detained in Austria on Saturday morning in a case of attempted extortion of money from the German baby food manufacturer HiPP, reports APA.
A 39-year-old man has been reported detained.
For safety reasons, the Burgenland police department did not disclose details regarding the location of the detention or the man's background on Saturday.
As reported by bb.lv, the manufacturer HiPP announced a massive recall of products in several countries in April and noted that this is not a mistake, but rather criminal actions that are under investigation.
It has also become known that the presence of HiPP baby food containing rat poison on store shelves in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia is the result of the actions of a perpetrator who wanted to obtain a ransom for not doing this.
