As part of the investigation launched last year regarding the preparation for the murder of two citizens of Lithuania and Russia for terrorist purposes, suspicions have been raised against 13 individuals.
"Currently, 13 individuals have been recognized as suspects in the pre-trial investigation. Nine of them are in Lithuania, with arrest measures applied to seven, while two are subject to milder preventive measures," said Martinas Jovaisa, the acting chief prosecutor of the Department for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor General's Office, at a press conference on Monday.
Procedures for the extradition of two individuals are currently underway.
"One person (...) has been detained in Greece, and the first-instance court has already decided to extradite him to Lithuania; however, this decision has been appealed, and we are currently awaiting the decision of the appellate court," Jovaisa noted.
Media reports indicated that the targets were Ruslan Gabbasov, a leader of the Bashkir national movement residing in Lithuania, and Valdas Bartkavičius, a public figure collecting aid for Ukraine.
