Early in the morning around 6:00, rescuers received a call to Greciinieku Street in Old Riga. The nightclub on the first floor of the building was burning over an area of 300 square meters.
On the upper floors above the establishment, there were a total of seven people who either escaped on their own or with the help of rescuers. Fortunately, there was no one on the first floor, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).
All nightlife lovers in Riga, who were likely planning where to spend the weekend, will now have to cross the club "Sinners" off their lists — a fire completely destroyed it on Friday night.
Inside the establishment, everything was completely burned and turned black — the walls, ceilings, bar counter, and pool tables. Staff worked both inside and outside on Friday afternoon, cleaning up broken glass from the sidewalk. At the same time, the club's owner, Miks Galvanovskis, arrived to assess the damage and understand what else could be saved.
He shared that the day before, he had come to the club with friends after recording a song. They all had one drink and were planning to leave late at night. Miks, as the last one, checked that everything was in order, turned on the alarm, and went home to sleep. And suddenly — an unexpected call:
"My cousin called immediately, saying that the fire alarm had gone off and that the business was no more. The main thing is that no one was inside and no one was hurt. Only six years that we invested here are lost."
It is still unclear what caused the fire, but Miks refuses to believe it was arson. The most likely cause is electrical wiring issues. The situation is worsened by the fact that the establishment was not insured.
"We worked hard for six years to make people happy. And in one day, you are just told that what you built your whole life for is no longer there," says Miks.
Shock and confusion now engulf both Miks and his loved ones. However, the musician believes in himself and the people around him and promises that the club will be rebuilt.
