On Tuesday, a large number of employees from the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS) were dispatched to extinguish a fire in a residential building on Bruņinieku Street, 70 in Riga.
The fire call was received at 14:35. A two-story wooden house was on fire, and the flames spread quickly.
More than 30 rescuers are involved in extinguishing the fire, with eight fire trucks and two aerial ladders.
The State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS) and other emergency services are working at the scene, and people are asked to stay away from the fire area to avoid interfering with the work and movement of rescuers, as well as to protect their health from smoke exposure.
Traffic is restricted and heavily obstructed near the incident site, in the area of Bruņinieku and Avotu streets.
Due to the fire, buses on route 50 heading towards Abrenes Street have been redirected via Avotu, Matisa, Čaka streets, and further along the route. During these changes, the stops "Bruņinieku iela" and "Čaka iela" are not being serviced.
