On Saturday, a train struck a passenger car at a railway crossing between Cesu and Motoru Streets in Daugavpils. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the police, and a video of the moment of the accident has appeared on social media.
Judging by the photographs, the impact was severe: the front of the locomotive is damaged, and the car has sustained critical body deformation. It is known that none of the train passengers were injured, which cannot be said about the car driver - he suffered serious injuries. Reports indicate that the injured young man was taken to the hospital's emergency department unconscious and is currently in intensive care.
A subscriber of Sadursme.lv sent a video capturing the moment of the accident. It shows that the car did not ensure safety before the crossing and drove onto the tracks. A few seconds later, the train crashes into the rear of the car, and the impact is very strong — the car is completely wrecked.
