In connection with a video recording made by residents, which captured a mass prayer of migrants on the pedestrian sidewalk in Plavnieki, one of the vice-mayors of Riga told bb.lv that he has contacted the Security Police requesting an investigation.
In addition, the municipal police of Riga arrived at the scene, which has already initiated administrative proceedings. The city leader did not specify what the punishment would be.
The Riga City Council also noted that this incident once again confirms the need to immediately "close the immigration gates." This can only be done at the state level — by the responsible ministry, the government, and the Saeima, adopting strict immigration regulations.
The vice-mayor also emphasized that as long as the "National Alliance" party is represented in the leadership of the Riga City Council, mosques will not be built in Riga.
