In connection with the information published this week in the program Bez Tabu (TV3) about the unethical and unacceptable behavior of certain police officers, as well as in light of new circumstances, the Chief of the State Police has instructed to conduct a re-investigation. This will be carried out by the Internal Control Bureau of the State Police.
"After seeing the report, including the attitude and communication of one of the employees with the journalist, it is absolutely clear — such people do not belong in the State Police. In light of new circumstances, a new internal investigation has been initiated. It will be conducted in accordance with the law, but it is already clear that the penalties applied to these employees will be strict.
Such violations are incompatible with the profession of a police officer and service. I urge the public to report if they have information about possible violations by police officers.
We are purposefully working to cleanse our ranks — since 2020, 47 employees have been dismissed for disciplinary violations. There is no place in the police for people whose actions undermine public trust in the service and in those colleagues who diligently do their job," said the Chief of the State Police, Armands Ruks.
At the same time, the actions of three police officers are also being evaluated within the framework of initiated administrative processes for violating public order.
