On Wednesday evening, an attack occurred at the Artea bank branch in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius.
It is known that the attack occurred around 5:00 PM. The police report that an unknown individual entered the bank building, used tear gas, and, according to initial information, stole a folder with documents, reports tv3.lv.
After the incident, bank employees required medical assistance.
"A report was received that a person entered the bank, sprayed gas, took a folder with documents that was there, and left," said police representative Ramūnas Matonis.
He added: "Significant police forces are currently searching for him, adjacent streets are blocked, and attempts are being made to apprehend him."
It is still unknown what kind of gas was used during the attack, and investigators on the scene were working in gas masks. The motives for the attack are also unclear.
Police officers are working in the area of the bank, and a search operation for the attacker is underway.
