Sleep my joy, fall asleep - false hypnotist arrested for raping patients

The Latvian police arrested a man in early March who posed as an experienced hypnosis specialist, promised treatment for addictions, and, according to the investigation, committed sexual violence against his clients.

As part of the criminal proceedings, three individuals have been recognized as victims. According to media reports, Andris Mediants has been arrested.

The criminal case was initiated on January 9 in Riga regarding possible sexual violence against three individuals. During the investigation, it was established that the man practiced unconventional methods of "treatment" - allegedly freeing individuals from addictions through hypnosis. He advertised himself as a specialist with over 20 years of experience and provided services in Old Riga.

The investigation revealed that the man was not authorized to engage in such activities. He arranged appointments with female clients regarding the time of their visit and payment, after which he received them for consultations.

According to the police, the suspect, abusing the trust of the victims, committed sexual violence against their will, satisfying his sexual needs.

For the initial consultation and subsequent hypnosis sessions, he demanded 265 euros, accepted cash payments, and did not issue receipts. Three victims reported to the police.

On March 6, a man born in 1962 was arrested, and two days later, he was recognized as a suspect. The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The police urge other potential victims to come forward by calling 25737717 or 112, or by writing to the email address.

It was previously reported that one of the women sought his help in treating an addiction. According to her, after the consultation, the man offered a massage, asked her to undress, and during the procedure, committed indecent acts.

The suspect's name does not appear in the registry of medical workers, which means he has no right to engage in treatment or provide such services.

The man himself denies the accusations and claims that he did not commit any inappropriate actions and also did not provide massage services. He also did not answer questions about his medical education.

The police remind that illegal medical activity can also lead to criminal liability.
