The young man thought he was participating in a special operation.

FC Ural-2 player Daniil Sekach has been charged with the murder of a resident of the Northwestern Administrative Okrug of Moscow. The young man admitted his guilt but stated that he acted under the influence of scammers.

According to the investigation, the accused, having armed himself in advance with an angle grinder, a crowbar, and a sledgehammer, went to an apartment in a residential building on Stroginsky Boulevard – as instructed by his phone "curators." In the apartment was the 16-year-old daughter of the owner, who was also misled by the phone scammers – she thought that an investigator had come to her.

Then the accused, believing he was participating in operational activities, began to open a safe, while the girl left the apartment to detain her mother and inform her that an officer of the special services was working in their apartment. However, the woman realized that a criminal was in the apartment and wanted to neutralize him herself but was unable to. The accused began to demand that the woman provide the safe code, attacked her, beat her, and then stabbed her with a knife.

After killing the apartment owner, he opened the safe, from which he stole 2,000 US dollars and other valuables. Following the instructions of his curators, the accused threw all the stolen items out of the open window. The next day, the scammers allowed him to release the girl and leave the apartment himself. He was soon detained.

During the interrogation, Daniil Sekach confessed to everything and expressed remorse for his actions. He informed the investigation that more than a month ago, he received a call from unknown individuals who introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and stated that he needed to participate in an operational activity.

Tomorrow, the investigation intends to petition the Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow for the arrest of the accused.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation urges citizens to be vigilant when communicating with strangers.

"We emphasize that no law enforcement officer will ask for any actions or assistance in conducting investigative actions or operational activities, such as 'surveillance,' 'operational infiltration,' 'detention,' and others," the Investigative Committee stated.
