In Latvia, the level of terrorist threat is currently low, and the information available to the State Security Service (SSS) does not indicate that the situation is likely to change in the near future.
The service informed the LETA agency, responding to a question about whether the war between the United States and Israel against Iran could increase the level of terrorist threat in the long term.
At the same time, the SSS constantly assesses the events in the information space and society within its competence to timely identify and prevent various national security threats, the service emphasized.
It was previously reported that on Saturday, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Iran, which in response carried out missile and drone strikes on American bases in several countries in the Persian Gulf.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that he made the decision to attack Iran as it was the "last best chance."
"Our objectives are clear," the president emphasized. "First, we are destroying Iran's missile forces. Second, we are destroying their naval fleet. Third, we are ensuring that the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism never acquires nuclear weapons."
