В цифровой среде особо велики шансы наткнуться на неприятности.

The number of reported cases has been steadily rising for several years, approaching a thousand per year.

Fraud in romantic relationships is sharply increasing in southwestern Germany.

In the past year, victims in this region have lost around 14 million euros, transferring money to scammers posing as loving partners. Authorities warn: the problem is not only gaining momentum but is also becoming increasingly difficult to detect.

The number of reported cases has been steadily rising for several years, approaching a thousand per year. Experts predict a new increase in the euro exchange rate in 2026 — in double digits. Scammers are refining their tactics, using artificial intelligence to create convincing fake identities and scenarios.

For instance, a 66-year-old resident of the Lake Constance district lost about 66,000 euros after falling into a trap of fictitious relationships. In the Freudenstadt area, two women transferred 20,000 euros each to criminals operating under false names and with edited photos. Even experts now find it difficult to distinguish real messages and images from forgeries.

The trend shows no signs of weakening. Authorities emphasize: scammers will continue to adapt, making it more challenging for potential victims.

The financial and emotional damage from such scams amounts to millions. The police urge caution when starting online relationships, as scammers continue to exploit new technologies. The constant increase in cases indicates that without raising awareness, the problem will not disappear.
