The State Security Service (SSS) conducted preventive conversations with approximately 30 residents regarding threats against protected officials last year, according to the SSS activity report, writes LETA.
In order to identify risks to the security of individuals protected by the State Security Service (SSS), the service continued monitoring online statements directed against these officials in 2025.
In cases where threats or calls for violence against officials were recorded, the SSS took measures to identify and prevent any potential real threat. In several cases, conversations were held with the authors of threats or calls for violence, during which they were warned about criminal liability for committing violent crimes.
Overall, in 2025, preventive conversations were conducted with approximately 30 individuals, in some cases with the support of the State Police.
In the past year, the SSS also continued to provide constant protection for the Speaker of the Saeima and the Prime Minister. At the same time, the service ensured the safety of the stay in Latvia of leaders of parliaments and governments of foreign states, as well as foreign ministers and leaders of international organizations.
