A teenager who fell through the ice at sea in Liepaja was rescued on Monday evening, reports the LETA agency, citing the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

By six o'clock in the evening, rescuers received information that a minor had fallen through the ice at sea near Cathedral Street, approximately 400 meters from the shore.

Bystanders helped the teenager reach the shore, and rescuers handed him over to the medical staff of the Emergency Medical Service.

The State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reminds that despite persistently low temperatures, being on the ice remains dangerous and poses a threat to human health and life.

Shortly before five o'clock in the evening, the SFRS received a call from the Rembate parish in the Ogre region, where a person had gotten lost in the forest.

Upon arriving at the scene and receiving information about the location, rescuers on an ATV went into the forest, found the person, and brought him out.

In the past 24 hours, the SFRS received 70 calls — 11 for fire extinguishing, 35 for rescue operations, and 24 calls turned out to be false.
