During the weekend in Riga, more than 200 people violated the ban on being on the ice of water bodies, according to summarized information from the Riga Municipality police.
Police removed 86 people from the ice of the Daugava River, and another 60 people were sent to the shore from the coastal area adjacent to the administrative territory of Riga in Vecaki. Additionally, about 100 people were removed from the ice of the Daugava in the Mangalsala area to the shore.
As reported, on Saturday, the order of the Executive Director of the Riga Municipality, Janis Lange, prohibiting being on the ice of the Daugava came into effect.
For going onto the ice during the ban, a warning may be issued or a fine of up to 100 euros may be imposed.
