Starting today, a new mobile application of the Municipal Police — RVPP, available for iOS and Android devices, has been launched in Riga. It replaces the outdated 2014 application, the development of which was decided to be discontinued.
As reported by Riga's Vice Mayor Edwards Ratnieks, the application allows residents to report incidents only within the city, attaching photos and videos in real-time, which should speed up the police response. To send messages, authorization through eParaksts mobile or Smart-ID will be required, which will reduce the number of anonymous and incorrect reports.
The application has been launched in test mode, and further improvements are ongoing. The municipality notes that previously residents used the old application more than 48,000 times, mainly reporting traffic violations.
