The bodies of a child and an adult were discovered in an apartment on Thursday. According to unofficial information available to the Degpunktā program (TV3), the deceased are a man and his young daughter. The child was supposed to turn two at the end of March.

"One person was born in 1991, the other in 2024. In connection with the incident, the State Police have initiated a criminal process, and law enforcement will investigate the circumstances of what happened. We can report that examinations have been appointed, during which the causes of death of both individuals will be established. Initial information does not indicate the involvement of other persons in the commission of the criminal act," commented State Police representative Julia Jurane.

Currently, information is circulating in the city that the child was left in the care of the father while the mother was at work. The girl's parents did not live together. It is possible that an accident or unforeseen situation occurred at home, resulting in the child sustaining fatal injuries. In turn, the father, after the incident, presumably took his own life.
