In the last five years, eight children have died in fires in Latvia, including the children who died on Friday in the Kekava municipality, the State Fire and Rescue Service informed the LETA agency.
In 2020 and last year, one child died in fires, while in 2022 and 2023, two minors died. At the same time, there were no fires in 2021 and 2024 that resulted in the deaths of minors.
It has already been reported that on Friday morning, two children died as a result of a fire in a residential building in the village of Krustkalni in the Kekava municipality.
