Citizens of the freedom-loving state are striving not only to neighbors in the EU and NATO but also to authoritarian Belarus.

The highest number of attempts to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine is currently recorded at the border with Moldova and Romania. This was reported on air by the representative of the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko.

"Every day we detain citizens who want to illegally cross the border. And this happens in many directions. First of all, the most detentions occur at the border with Romania and Moldova," he said.

According to Demchenko, since autumn, the number of individuals attempting to illegally leave Ukraine has gradually decreased compared to the summer period, but attempts at violations remain daily. The decrease in attempts is partially related to worsening weather conditions, but even in winter, people continue to risk their lives trying to cross the border through rivers or hard-to-reach mountainous areas.

The representative of the State Border Guard Service added that this year there has been an increase in attempts to illegally cross the border in the direction of Belarus.

"Currently, nearly 1,400 such violators have been detained at the border section with Belarus. This is actually less than at the border sections with European Union countries, but as we can see, attempts to illegally cross the state border have also begun in this direction," he noted.

Earlier, a border service inspector in the Odesa region was detained for profiting from the illegal transportation of conscription-age men across the state border outside of checkpoints. It is noted that having access to information about border security, the border guard developed a route for "clients" and left instructions under one of the tankers in a pre-agreed location on the outskirts of one of the border villages.

He demanded that money—$5,000 from each man—be left separately, under the transformer outside the same village, on the roadside. The "payment" needed to be confirmed with a photo report.

In Transcarpathia, a serviceman was exposed for selling routes to Europe to draft evaders for cryptocurrency.

For $2,000, he provided detailed instructions for illegally crossing the border with Romania.
