On Monday, employees were evacuated from the administrative building of LLC "Rīgas nami" due to the smoldering wiring, the LETA agency found out.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), a call was received on Monday at 9:47 AM regarding Rātslaukums in Riga, where electrical wires were smoldering in the attic of a five-story public building over an area of 0.2 square meters. Before the arrival of the SFRS, 20 people evacuated from the building.
At "Rīgas nami," the LETA agency was informed that the fire safety system was activated in the company's administrative building located at Rātslaukums 5 on Monday. The cause of the activation was smoke caused by the smoldering wiring of the ventilation system over a small area of 0.2 square meters.
All employees evacuated the building for safety reasons before the SFRS arrived. The SFRS promptly arrived at the scene, the situation was checked and resolved, and there were no injuries.
According to the SFRS's conclusion, employees were able to return to their workplaces and continue working within an hour.
"The condition of the building's engineering communications is currently undergoing a thorough assessment, and preventive measures are being planned to prevent similar situations in the future," said company representative Jānis Bunte.
In 2024, "Rīgas nami" operated with a turnover of 27.5 million euros and losses of 178,650 euros, according to data from "Firmas.lv." The authorized capital of "Rīgas nami" is 109.6 million euros, and the owner of the enterprise is the Riga municipality.
