The children who accused the young teacher from St. Petersburg of harassment did so out of revenge, the teacher's mother told "Baza".
22-year-old graduate of Herzen State Pedagogical University, Afina Simeonidis, became a homeroom teacher a year ago and taught English at a St. Petersburg gymnasium. The girl led an active lifestyle, regularly participated in community activities, was a bright Victory volunteer, and graduated with honors. The teacher immediately won the affection of the staff, students, and their parents.
As Afina's mother told "Baza", her 12-year-old student paid increased attention to the young teacher — the boy confessed his love to her in front of the entire class. Afina combined her school work with tutoring in English. The boy infatuated with her had been coming to her home for lessons since April along with his friend "for company," according to the teacher's mother. The boys claim that allegedly during these lessons, Afina engaged in sexual activities with them, while her 16-year-old brother, who lived with her, was present in the apartment.
The first complaint against the girl was filed about a week ago: according to the girl's relatives, the 12-year-old boy went to the police on his own, without adults. A couple of days later, his friend came to the authorities — thus the second complaint was filed. After that, Afina was immediately detained and charged with the most serious part of sexual violence. She is currently in pre-trial detention.
According to her mother, Afina was an attentive teacher; all the children in her class trusted her and shared personal problems. Meanwhile, the boys who filed the complaints about the violence are "two buddies with questionable reputations": they posted videos of fights, swearing, and specific humor on their social media (in the video). The woman suspects that the children conspired out of revenge and carefully planned the punishment, as the English teacher did not reciprocate their feelings.
