The inventory of the former military official's property includes 2.2 kilograms of jewelry.
In spring 2024, Timur Ivanov was arrested. Since then, part of the jewelry belonging to his former and current wives has been with the investigation. A hearing took place at the Presnensky Court in Moscow, where the lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia regarding the confiscation of Timur Ivanov's property for the astronomical sum of 1.2 billion rubles was considered.
The prosecution is requesting the seizure of shares in commercial organizations, apartments, houses, cars, weapons, rare paintings, and books from the former Deputy Minister of Defense. The inventory of the former official's property includes 2.2 kilograms of jewelry from famous brands Graff, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels, which belong to Timur's civil wife Maria Kitaeva (see photo below)
and his ex-wife Svetlana Zakharova. The total value of these accessories is estimated at approximately 200 million rubles (2 million euros). Furthermore, the jewelry is being treated as evidence in the case, so the owners have not seen their treasures for a long time.
According to Mash, Svetlana and Maria are demanding the court return their jewelry. Kitaeva insists that she purchased the Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels collection herself long before meeting the former Deputy Minister of Defense. As undeniable proof, she provided the court with old social media photos where she poses in the same jewelry from long ago.
Zakharova hopes to get back luxury accessories, watches, and a white gold ring from Graff, claiming that it was a gift from her previous husband, businessman Mikhail Maniovich. Her lawyers supported these claims with official documents from Christie's auction house confirming the provenance of the jewelry. Additionally, at today's hearing, Ivanov once again noted that his ex-wife owned these pieces of jewelry before meeting him. However, despite all the provided photographs and documents, the jewelry remains under arrest as the investigation considers them a possible part of illegal income.
Ivanov also noted that he does not understand the prosecutors' demands, as most of the real estate they want to confiscate was acquired long before 2016, when he took the position of Deputy Minister of Defense.
Svetlana Zakharova also spoke at the hearing in the Presnensky Court in Moscow. The socialite stated that she married Ivanov in 2009 "out of great love." For this, she destroyed her very prosperous marriage with Mikhail Maniovich. Svetlana claimed that she was initially against Timur working in the Ministry of Defense, especially when he was offered the position of Deputy Minister of Defense. Despite his wife's arguments and pleas, the man agreed.
