Flight with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister and European Commissioner Delayed Due to Balloons from Belarus

Balloons from Belarus forced Vilnius Airport to cease operations for more than an hour on the evening of November 20, affecting 10 flights and over 1,100 passengers.

This was reported by the National Crisis Management Center of Lithuania (NKVC).

Airspace restrictions were imposed at 18:38 and lifted at 19:55. Preliminary data from NKVC indicate that up to 10 objects resembling balloons invaded Lithuanian airspace from Belarus.

Airports reported that four flights were canceled, and six others were unable to land or take off as scheduled.

Among the delayed aircraft was a flight from Brussels, which carried Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys and European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius.

As reported by bb.lv, at least one flight was redirected to Riga.
