According to "Baza," 21-year-old Kuvochbek often quarreled with his mother Shankhaza. Before the murder, he worked as a cook in one of the city's restaurants and earned well. He did not have a father, and his mother led a dissolute lifestyle, which often led to conflicts between them. According to the young man, she had mental health issues.
On the day of the murder, Kuvochbek and Shankhaza went to look at a new rental apartment for her in the Akademicheskiy district. The young man wanted to reconcile with his mother and pay for her housing in the new building. The day before, he had been drinking — they quarreled again. According to Kuvochbek, he took a knife with him to intimidate Shankhaza but did not intend to kill her. On the way to the apartment, the woman again spoke rudely to her son — she said she regretted not having killed him in infancy — and then Kuvochbek lost control and struck her once in the neck.
The wound turned out to be fatal — Shankhaza died on the spot. Then Kuvochbek cut off her head (the young man worked as a cook and often slaughtered sheep), put it in a bag, and hid it in a park, while he dismembered the body to prevent identification and also left it among the trees. After the murder, he continued to drink for another 10 days, went to work, and even told his brothers about what happened, but they did not believe him.
The murder was committed at night. The suspect not only pointed investigators to the personal belongings of the victim found in the woods but also showed where he hid the severed head. All of this was kept in a bag that lay two hundred meters from the crime scene. The suspect told two relatives about the murder, but they were afraid to report what happened to the police.
The young man was detained at his home — he confessed to the crime. According to one version, domestic quarrels often flared up between the son and mother. Soon, the young man decided to lure his mother to the park under the pretext of taking her to the new rental apartment. The son explained to the police that he cut off her head because he had previously slaughtered livestock multiple times and was used to it.
