The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a foreigner in Kyiv who collaborated with the Russian FSB. According to the agency, the detainee is a former military instructor from one of the European countries, recruited by Russian special services.
According to the investigation, the man arrived in Ukraine in early 2024 to work as an instructor for mobilized fighters. However, he later ceased this activity and began looking for "easy earnings," offering his services in pro-Kremlin internet groups.
This led him to make contact with an FSB representative, who, after recruiting him, began giving him espionage assignments.
In particular, the agent transmitted information to the enemy about Ukrainian training centers and foreign instructors, and also received instructions on how to create an improvised explosive device. Additionally, he was provided with the coordinates of a stash where a pistol with two loaded magazines was stored.
The SBU counterintelligence timely exposed the perpetrator, documented his activities, and detained him in the capital.
He has now been informed of suspicion under part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - unauthorized dissemination of information about the placement of Ukrainian military formations during wartime.
The foreigner is in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is establishing all the circumstances of the crime.
