Last night, a preschool educational institution "Bitīte" in Lūža, Saulkrasti district, burned over an area of 405 square meters, resulting in one part of the building being burned and another part being partially flooded.
About an hour before midnight, the State Fire and Rescue Service received a call to the Seja parish in the Saulkrasti district, where the roof of a two-story educational institution, the attic, and the external staircases of the building were on fire. The total area of the fire was 405 square meters, reported the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) to the LETA agency.
The voluntary fire societies of Inčukalns and Krimulda also participated in extinguishing the fire. A rescuer was injured while fighting the fire.
The fire was extinguished this morning at 06:53.
In a statement from the Saulkrasti municipality, it was noted that one part of the building was burned, while another part was partially flooded. The buildings are insured.
The kindergarten is attended by more than 110 children.
It is worth mentioning that recently in Riga, a kindergarten was evacuated due to a gas leak.
