Since the introduction of administrative liability for sexual harassment, the State Police has punished dozens of men, the police reported.
Since December 10, 2024, when amendments to the law came into force, the police have initiated 74 administrative violation cases for sexual harassment, which includes unwanted physical, verbal, or written sexual actions that demean a person's dignity and create a threatening, hostile, humiliating, or offensive environment.
As noted by the police, the nature of the violations varies. For example, in August of this year, a man sexually harassed a victim by approaching her from behind and touching her intimate areas. There was also a case where a man harassed a victim in a store by touching her buttocks with his hand.
The police have also received information about harassment cases in the virtual environment. For instance, a man posted the name, age, and phone number of a woman on an adult advertisement website, resulting in the woman receiving intimate messages and requests for photographs from unknown men. There was also a case where the victim received photos of a penis sent to her work email by a drunken man.
Fines ranging from 10 to 700 euros have been imposed for these and other cases - a total of 41. All those fined are men.
Among the cases identified by the police, there are also minors who have both committed and become victims of such actions.
