On Wednesday, border guards detained a citizen of Cuba who illegally crossed the state border from the Russian side, the State Border Guard informed the LETA agency.
During the inspection of the crime scene in the Jīguri parish, remnants of the lower part of the border fence were found.
A criminal case has been initiated against the Cuban for deliberately crossing the state border illegally.
This is already the second case in a week of illegal border crossing from the Russian side. It has already been reported that on Tuesday, a citizen of Russia was detained by border guards in the Ludza region. In this case, the fence was also damaged.
