The State Labor Inspectorate has ordered a technical examination of the doors at the Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital, where the employee died.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, reported LETA agency representative Dainis Deigelis.
The woman was caught in the doors in the radiology department. According to Latvian Television, the security system did not activate. The injuries sustained were fatal.
The inspection has not yet drawn conclusions about the causes of the tragedy. Decisions will be made after specialists examine the design of the doors, their technical condition, and the operation of the safety mechanisms.
A criminal process has been initiated regarding the incident under the article on violation of labor protection rules resulting in death.
The hospital refused to disclose details, citing the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation, as well as the deceased's and her family's right to privacy.
