American NBCUniversal plans to invest more than £5 billion (€6.8 billion) in the construction of the first European Universal theme park, which is expected to open in 2031.
According to the company, the park will be named Universal United Kingdom Resort and will be built in Bedford, UK, 45 minutes north of London.
In addition to several themed areas with attractions, the complex will include a 500-room hotel, shopping, entertainment, and dining centers. NBCUniversal expects that around 8.5 million guests will visit the park in its first year of operation.
The UK government has promised to invest £1.3 billion in the development of the region's infrastructure and public transport system.
The implementation of the project is expected to support the British economy, including the creation of approximately 20,000 jobs during the construction phase of the park and 8,000 after its opening.
According to NBCUniversal's estimates, by 2055, the positive impact of the park's construction on the UK economy will reach £50 billion.
