Oil Exists – It Cannot Not Exist: OPEC Reports Increase in Global Reserves

Global proven oil reserves at the end of 2025 reached 1.573 trillion barrels, increasing by 7.3 billion barrels over the year, according to OPEC's annual bulletin.

China Increases Reserves

The main increase is provided by China, whose reserves grew by 6.3 billion barrels over the year to 34.47 billion barrels.

Proven oil reserves in Middle Eastern countries increased by 1.8 billion barrels to 873.1 billion barrels. The growth is attributed to an increase in the UAE - by 7 billion barrels to 120 billion barrels. At the same time, Iraq's reserves decreased by 5 billion barrels over the year to 140 billion barrels.

Latin American countries increased proven reserves by 1.6 billion barrels to 346.3 billion barrels. In particular, Brazil increased its figure by 947 million barrels to 16.8 billion barrels; Venezuela - by 480 million barrels to 303.7 billion barrels.

According to OPEC, Russia's proven reserves remained at 80 billion barrels. The figure in the United States decreased by 1.1 billion barrels to 41.9 billion barrels.

Europe and Africa Deplete Resources

Proven reserves in OECD European countries decreased by 1.2 billion barrels to 9.2 billion barrels, primarily due to a decrease in Norway - by 993 million barrels to 5.9 billion barrels.

Proven reserves in African countries also decreased - by 270 million barrels to 119 billion barrels. The entire decrease is related to a change in the estimate in Nigeria, whose reserves fell to 37 billion barrels.

Additionally, global proven gas reserves, according to OPEC, grew in 2025 by 1.37 trillion cubic meters to 220.3 trillion cubic meters.
