Special transports of wind turbines from the port of Paldiski to Latvia, which were scheduled to begin on the evening of May 1, have been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances on the Latvian side and will start on May 7.
To transport oversized cargo, the Transport Department has issued special permits allowing the use of roads from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Up to four convoys will pass in one night, each with up to four units of special transport.
The length of the road trains reaches 90 meters, and the height is 5.6 meters. A total of parts for 16 wind turbines will be delivered to Latvia. To minimize disruption to road traffic, transportation will take place in the evening and nighttime. The transport operations will last for two months.
Throughout April, preparatory work was carried out on the routes to ensure the passage of the convoys. Temporary widenings are being created on the roads, crossings are being equipped at roundabouts, and road signs that hinder traffic are being dismantled and replaced with temporary ones.
