The Latvian Investment and Development Agency (Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra, LIAA) signed a new cooperation agreement with the international gastronomic guide MICHELIN Guide at the end of 2025 regarding Latvia's participation in the famous guide for the next three-year period from 2026 to 2028.
A new agreement with the MICHELIN Guide will ensure the continuity of cooperation and allow for ongoing efforts to enhance the international recognition of Latvia's gastronomic offerings, as well as motivate restaurants to maintain consistently high standards of quality and competitiveness in the Baltic and Northern European region. Additionally, under the signed agreement, the MICHELIN Guide will ensure the visibility of Latvia and other marketing activities through its communication channels for three years.
Latvia's participation in the MICHELIN Guide will cost 380,000 euros per year, and the candidate was selected based on the results of the negotiation procedure.
Currently, 34 restaurants are included in the Latvian selection of the MICHELIN Guide, including 27 in Riga and 7 outside the capital.
There are two restaurants in Latvia that have been awarded a MICHELIN star: JOHN Chef’s Hall and Max Cekot Kitchen.
The Bib Gourmand designation has been awarded to five restaurants in Latvia: Milda (Riga), Shōyu (Riga), Snatch (Riga), SMØR Bistro (Riga), H.E. Vanadziņš (Cēsis).
The MICHELIN Green Star for sustainability has been awarded to one restaurant: Pavāru māja (Līgatne).
The overall list of restaurants in the MICHELIN Guide Latvia 2026 also includes: 3 Chefs, 36.Line, Akustika, B7, BABO, Barents, Barents Cocktail & Seafood Bar, Chef’s Corner, COD, Entresol, Ferma, Kest, Le Dome, LOWINE, Māsa, MO, Neiburgs, Riviera, Seasons, Stage 22, Tails, TAURO, The Catch, Whitehouse, ZOLTNERS, JOHN.
