Leaders in gold purchases since the beginning of the year among countries have been Poland and Kazakhstan.

Since the beginning of the year, the leaders among countries in gold purchases have been Poland and Kazakhstan, which acquired 67.1 tons and 32.4 tons of the precious metal, respectively. This was reported by the research company BestBrokers, citing data from the World Gold Council.

Completing the top three is China with a result of 22.7 tons. Also in the top ten major buyers are Turkey, the Czech Republic, Cambodia, Ghana, Qatar, India, and Serbia.

Among the countries that officially reduced their reserves, the top five included Uzbekistan (16.8 tons), Singapore (15.8 tons), Indonesia (12.9 tons), Russia (6.2 tons), and Germany (1.3 tons). For Russia, this was the first case of a reduction in reserves in 19 years, with 17 of those years prior to 2023 being about gold purchases.

The list of countries with the largest gold reserves includes the USA (8,100 tons), Germany (3,350 tons), Italy (2,450 tons), France (2,440 tons), and Russia (2,320 tons).

Earlier, analysts at Societe Generale suggested that the record rise in gold prices this year is linked to China, which has been secretly buying the precious metal. According to their estimates, by the end of 2025, the total volume of purchases could reach 250 tons, while actual reserves could exceed five thousand tons, which is twice what is officially considered.
