In the Free Port of Riga, 12.276 million tons of cargo were transshipped over the past nine months of this year, which is 6.6% less compared to the corresponding period of 2024, according to data published by the port.
Over the past nine months, the port handled the most general cargo - 5.717 million tons (-5.3%) and bulk cargo - 5.579 million tons (-13.4%). The transshipment of liquid cargo amounted to 979.5 thousand tons (+47.9%), while container cargo totaled 3.651 million tons (-0.7%).
During this period, 1.968 million tons of timber were transshipped in the Port of Riga (-12%), agricultural bulk cargo - 2.032 million tons (-19%), wood pellets - 1.2 million tons (-0.2%), and wood chips - 714.1 thousand tons (-14%).
In 2024, the cargo turnover of the Port of Riga amounted to 18.062 million tons, which is 3.9% less than the previous year, including transshipment for eight months - 11.504 million tons.
