He calls Putin a 'bad guy'.
The son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, Hunter, who was previously pardoned by his father after court cases regarding tax violations and illegal gun purchases, has gained viral popularity on social media, as noted by Newsweek, Axios, and People. His new posts on X (formerly Twitter) are gathering millions of views, and current President Donald Trump is already being asked to comment on Biden Jr.'s prospects for the 2028 presidential election.
The 56-year-old former lawyer, now an artist and activist, returned to his old account on X in May 2026, but initially made few posts. He began posting actively after marking seven years of sobriety in a video address. The son of the previous White House occupant has not hidden the fact that he struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction in the past — this was actively pointed out by Republicans along with his employment at the Ukrainian gas company Burisma during his father's vice presidency.
As noted by People, in recent days, Hunter Biden has made over 300 posts on social media, most of which were responses to messages from other users — often with criticism directed at his family and himself.
For instance, Biden Jr. jokingly dismissed speculation that he was the one who forgot a package of cocaine in the White House in 2023 (“I would never forget my drugs”) and images generated by neural networks (“A crack pipe doesn’t have a little bowl on the end, please fix that”).
He also defended his father — in response to attempts to question the older Biden's cancer diagnosis, he stated that the cancer has been brought under control through radiation and hormone therapy. The message garnered 1.8 million views.
Biden Jr. also lamented that the media criticizes his mother Jill's memoirs and his business selling his own paintings, while Trump's children engage in multi-million dollar investments. The audience for this post exceeded 16 million, with 270,000 people liking the message.
The topic of forgotten drugs led to another joke from Biden Jr. about his political ambitions. He noted that he is ready to run for president in 2028 just to find the person who forgot the cocaine in the White House on the first day and return the illegal substance to him. Soon, the son of the Democrat suggested a slogan for his campaign on the same theme.
“How about ‘Let’s take another crack with a Biden’? Maybe it needs some work, but the possibilities are endless,” joked Hunter Biden, gathering nearly 3 million more views.
Trump was asked about Biden Jr.'s political prospects at an event in the White House on Thursday, June 4. The Republican noted that the son of his former opponent has “not the best past,” but there are chances to compete in the Democratic primaries.
In Trump's opinion, “Hunter can do no worse” than the Democratic Senate candidates Graham Plattner and James Talarico. He did not name them but described them as “hopeless” and “looking like Alfred E. Neuman” (a character from a humor magazine), respectively.
“I’m not sure, but I think their chances are comparable,” Trump noted. Biden Jr. soon shared a video recording of Trump’s response, calling himself the “tamer of MAGA” — Trump’s movement “Make America Great Again.” Trump, in turn, posted on Truth Social a neural network-generated image of Hunter Biden painting his portrait with the caption “The Greatest President.”
Recently, Joe Biden’s son published a list of “things Americans do not argue about.” It included points about “bad guy Vladimir Putin,” “too expensive groceries,” “secure borders,” and “stupid endless wars.” The post, reminiscent of a campaign plan, gathered over 3 million views.
