A well-known fan of mixed martial arts, Trump arrived at the event with UFC President Dana White, with whom he has a long-standing friendship.
The opening of the tournament was accompanied by a flyover of a group of twelve jet planes over Washington. The fights themselves took place on the South Lawn of the White House.
The main event of the evening was a fight between Georgian-Spanish fighter Ilia Topuria and American Justin Gaethje. The program included a total of seven bouts.
More than 4,000 guests were invited to the tournament. Among them were the President of Poland Karol Nawrocki, First Lady Melania Trump, members of the American president's family, politicians, and representatives from the business and technology industries. Also present among the guests was Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
A significant portion of the audience consisted of military personnel. Additionally, estimates suggest that between 85,000 to 100,000 people watched the fight broadcasts on large screens set up in the fan zone at the nearby Ellipse park.
After the tournament, Donald Trump plans to attend the G7 summit.
