Official Minsk may join the RF's war with Ukraine.

According to one of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition, former Minister of Culture (2009-2012) Pavel Latushko, if Belarus becomes involved in the hot phase of the war against Ukraine from its territory, Ukraine will respond. And first and foremost – personally to Alexander Lukashenko.

"Ukraine has very clearly stated that it will react particularly," says Latushko. "If Lukashenko gets involved in the hot phase of the war against Ukraine, Ukraine will not wait. As a Belarusian and a Belarusian politician, I would not want to envision such a scenario where strikes are made on Belarusian territory. But if Lukashenko does this, it is the Ukrainian military that has stated there are 500 targets on Belarusian territory. And the first target is Lukashenko himself. I don’t know how many bunkers he has, at most two: the dacha of the Council of Ministers, under the lake, and the second – the Red Banner military district from the Soviet Union era. Which one he will hide in is unknown. But the first target will indeed be Lukashenko himself. Zelensky mentioned this, and he referred to the Venezuelan scenario, as it was in Caracas with Maduro," the politician believes.

In an interview with a Russian propagandist, Lukashenko once again said: "God forbid, if a military attack is carried out on Belarusian territory from any territory – the war in Ukraine will take on a completely different character. I will not specify, you understand." Latushko says that in this way the Kremlin is forcing Lukashenko to react to the recent visit of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to Kyiv.

"He threatens to strike the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant," believes Latushko. "I think that talks about the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant are, firstly, a very important political signal from Lukashenko. This was a message that he is not perceived as a president, is considered a usurper, and that democratic forces are seen as partners. Six years have passed since 2020. Lukashenko is very hurt by the fact that democratic forces have subjectivity. (...) And this hits his reputation very hard. It is clear that Lukashenko is playing the role assigned to him by the Kremlin in this situation. And the questions are posed to him by a Russian journalist-propagandist, as Lukashenko may not have planned to react, but it is precisely Russian propaganda that forces him to do so.
