Russia has found a way to intercept Ukrainian drones and direct them to Finland or the Baltic States. As reported by Postimees, this was stated by the British newspaper Telegraph.

According to experts interviewed by the newspaper, Russia jams the drone's GPS receiver with interference that blinds it, interrupting the receiver's connection with real satellite signals.

Then Russia sends a powerful false signal to the blindly flying drone, drowning out all other signals and guiding the drone to the desired target.

The powerful transmitter operates in Kaliningrad, which provides a good opportunity to send confused Ukrainian drones toward the Baltic States and Finland.

"They are literally trying to jam the drones," said Ramsey Faragher, head of the British Institute of Navigation. "The software fails and malfunctions."

The method is simple and carries no risks, so Russia is likely to continue such activities, the newspaper reports.

"Russia has no reason to stop because Moscow does not have to pay for the consequences, and the return on their efforts is enormous," said Keir Giles, a research fellow in the Russia and Eurasia program at the Chatham House analytical center.

Senior research fellow at the Institute for Science and International Security Spencer Faragasso stated that Russia is constantly violating NATO and European airspace.

"The drone incursions can be seen as part of Russia's covert war that it has been waging against Europe for many years," he noted.
