Three oil tankers linked to the Russian shadow fleet attacked off the coast of Turkey

In the Black Sea near the coast of Turkey, drones attacked three oil tankers located about 80 kilometers from the city of Türkel. According to media reports, all vessels had previously been subjected to international sanctions due to their alleged involvement with the Russian shadow fleet, which is used to export oil bypassing restrictions.

Turkish authorities reported a drone strike on three tankers that were in the Black Sea, approximately 80 km from the city of Türkel, bb.lv reports, citing Bloomberg.

In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the Turkish-operated tankers Altura and Velora were attacked. The strike occurred while cargo was being transferred from one vessel to another, the publication stated.

Another tanker, James II, was also attacked, according to the Equasis database, it is operated by an Indian company.

The port agent's report did not specify what damages the tankers sustained.

The publication notes that all three tankers are subject to international sanctions for their involvement with the Russian shadow fleet, which Moscow uses to export its oil and petroleum products bypassing sanctions.
